Ministry Overview

Alberta Infrastructure provides innovative, high quality and well-designed public infrastructure for Albertans. Through leadership, expertise and collaboration with partners, the ministry provides public infrastructure that contributes to the province’s prosperity and quality of life.

The ministry is responsible for leading the development of the provincial Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development.

Infrastructure designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. In addition, Infrastructure provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Infrastructure Minister Sandra Jansen is in charge of the ministry

Deputy Minister Shannon Flint leads the ministry, which is made up of three major divisions: the Capital Projects Delivery Division, Corporate Strategies and Services Division, and Properties Division.

Capital Projects Delivery Division – the Capital Projects Delivery Division consists of three major branches: Learning Facilities, Health Facilities, and Government Facilities. These branches work with partner ministries, boards, agencies, and other stakeholders to deliver capital projects.

Properties Division – The Properties Division is accountable for the management, operations, and maintenance of government-owned and leased properties. The Division also provides real estate, leasing and land planning services to Ministries, boards and agencies.

Corporate Strategies and Services Division – Corporate Strategies and Services Division provides a wide range of strategic corporate services to Alberta Infrastructure. The division is also responsible for the development and management of the Government of Alberta’s Capital Plan.
