Construction Services

Depending on the construction project delivery system selected for a construction project, Alberta Infrastructure may use one of the following procurement processes to contract with Vendors for construction Services:

For construction tenders with an estimated value of $100,000 thousand or greater, a Tender notice is publically advertised on Alberta Purchasing Connection and bid documents (drawings and specifications) are posted electronically on COOLNet Alberta.

For construction tenders with an estimated value below $100,000, a predetermined, limited number of Vendors are invited to submit a bid.

For construction projects with high levels of complexity, Alberta Infrastructure may employ a two stage procurement process

  • In stage one, a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is publically advertise on Alberta Purchasing Connection to shortlist or to prequalify Vendors based on qualifications and experience.
  • In stage two, the shortlisted or prequalified vendors are invited to submit proposals in response to an Invitational Request for Proposals (RFP).

Safety certification is a requirement in most of Alberta Infrastructures construction tenders.  The safety certification requirement can be met by achieving a valid Certificate of Recognition (COR) or a valid Temporary Letter of Certification (TLC) recognized by Alberta Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour.   For information on specific certification requirements, please go to the website http://work.alberta.ca/.  Potential bidders are advised that these requirements are the sole responsibility of the bidder and may take time to obtain.
